Linux gaming has come a long way. Ever since the first Humble Bundle in 2010, a steady stream of new titles has graced the platform. This trend accelerated when Valve, owners of the biggest digital publishing platform on PC, decided that gaming on Linux is the future and made Steam available for it. Since then we’ve seen a number of AAA games find a home on Linux, and if Valve succeeds with their SteamMachines, it’s entirely imaginable that most games will have first-day Linux support.
1. The Dark Mod

The Dark Mod is a FREE, first-person stealth game inspired by the original Thief series by Looking Glass Studios. In it you play a hooded figure slinking through the shadows of a gothic steampunk city, hunting priceless valuables while avoiding the swords and arrows of those hired to stop you.
2. SuperTuxKart

SuperTuxKart is a 3D open-source arcade racer with a variety characters, tracks, and modes to play. Our aim is to create a game that is more fun than realistic, and provide an enjoyable experience for all ages.
In Story mode, you must face the evil Nolok, and defeat him in order to make the Mascot Kingdom safe once again! You can race by yourself against the computer, compete in several Grand Prix cups, or try to beat your fastest time in Time Trial mode. You can also race with up to four friends on one PC, or battle each other in multiplayer arenas. Network multiplayer modes are currently under development.
3. 0 A.D.

4. Dota 2

Dota 2 is the sequel to Defense of the Ancients, the Warcraft III mod that jumpstarted the multiplayer online battle arena genre. It’s a free-to-play title, available exclusively on Steam. Despite its high learning curve, it’s one of the most popular titles in the genre, numbering as many as 800 000 players daily, which makes it the most actively played game on Steam. The gameplay consists of two five-player teams trying to destroy the other’s stronghold, while leveling their heroes and collecting items to help them in this quest.
5. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a turn-based tactical video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The game is a "reimagined" remake of the 1994 cult classic strategy game UFO: Enemy Unknown (also known as X-COM: UFO Defense) and a reboot of MicroProse's 1990s X-COM series.
